Three-pass approach·

  • 第一遍：give you a general idea of the paper
  • 第二遍：grasp content, but not details
  • 第三遍：understand the paper in depth

The first pass·

  • read the title, abstract, and introduction
  • read the (sub)section headings, ignore everything else
  • read the conclusions
  • 看一眼引用，标出读过的那些

The second pass·

  • read the paper more carefully
  • look at figures, diagrams, and other illustrations
  • mark unread relevant references 为了以后的阅读

大概需要一个小时

如果还是读不懂，可以放着或者再读一遍

The third pass·

  • virtually re-implement the paper
    • making the same assumptions and re-create the work
  • great attention to the detail
  • pinpoint 可能的问题，不清楚的地方和不完善的引用
